If You Rated Halo 3 - You're a Shill

The latest addition in our growing archive of 'the sorry state of games journalism' op-eds is this, which argues that Halo 3 only scored well because of the hype, weak-mindedness of journos etc. Here's the link.

Note to Freelancers

Use your biography areas to post links to your best work. Also, point out your specialities so commissioning editors can easily see what you are offering. Part of the point of this site is to allow freelancers to show off your work, and to allow editors to seek out the writers they favor.

NPD Closes Down Figures

Bad news. Just a few months after initiating a widely welcomed policy of releasing more sales stats to the public, NPD have backed off. From next month, we're back to bare bones stuff again. It's not clear what's going on here. Possibly, the stats outfit is scared that so much publicly available stuff - analyzed expertly by vario… Continue

Bad Reviewer Debate

There's an interesting discussion going on over at the always excellent Quarter to Three about a recent (allegedly flawed) review of The Witcher at Game Daily. Kieron Gillen weighs in with a robust defense of games reviewers who don't complete games. Here's the link.

Another Treatise on Reviews

If you can face it...in fact this one is pretty good. "After reading countless video game reviews over the years, and more recently editing Frankenreviews for both games and gadgets, it's become more and more obvious that the video… Continue

In regards to your feature on Next-Gen..
I just wanted to agree with the points you raised in your article and maybe step it up a bit and say that Gamestop's used games sales are the consoles equivalent of bit-torrent. I also really wanted to thank you for starting this network even though I'm not yet a journalist reading the information on this site has proved very useful in helping me achieve that goal.

Thanks so much for starting this thing. Aside from the fact the world actually does really need another social network, communicating on this site has given me a new perspective on my approach to what i do. Thanks.

I would love to cover CES for Next-Gen. I will be there from the 6th- 9th. I will also be attending Showstoppers which I have heard is a great media event to really get some focused information. I will also be attending the Bill Gates Keynote.

I've invited all of my fellow writers and editors from Gamezone, so we have a healthy representation on here -- plus we have our own group now too. GT is a great podcast and great idea creating this thing. It's brought all of us at GZ together into one forum, finally.
