A look at Brutal Legend
Let there be sound, drums, light, guitar...let there be Brutal Legend. I know I just changed the immortal lyrics to an AC/DC song, but hey, Brutal Legend on the Xbox 360 and the PS3 might be awesome enough to do so.
Brutal Legend will feature one of the craziest soundtracks I've ever seen for a video game, with songs from Black Sabbath, Wolfmother, Judas Priest, and Ronnie James Dio: this game will definitely melt faces.
The story revolves around a roadie named Eddie as he gets transported to a fantasy world that look an awful lot like the scenery of heavy metal album covers. Eddie fights his way through demons and mystical creatures using an axe and his magical guitar while also driving around in a hot rod. Eddie is also voiced by actor/musician Jack Black and reports from IGN say that the Prince of Darkness himself, Ozzy Osbourne, will also be lending his voice...I hope he plays some type of rock god, although I'm not sure how involved he is with the game.
From what I've seen from the trailers- this game looks to be one great action adventure game with a mix of cool tunes, crazy medieval settings and lots of vast amounts of carnage.
Brutal Legend sounds like the total package of video games; developed by industry legend Tim Schafer, killer soundtrack, voice acting by some big name stars, and it looks to be quite funny on top of it all. Double Fine might have have their first big hit on their hands with this one. Also, it could teach some of the younger kids a thing or two about good music. Personally, I've been hoping that the song "Achilles Last Stand" by Led Zeppelin will be in the game, since it has possibly the best drumming I've ever heard in a song-it would be perfect for an 11 minute boss battle. (Hint hint Mr. Schafer).
Brutal Legend is scheduled to be released in October 2009.
