Because the world badly needs another social network

I managed to convince a few friends to come with me to VGXPO on Saturday and I am glad that they delayed me until it was almost closed. Being pinched for money at the moment, going so late enabled me to walk in without paying anything, the guards and registration booth were gone. Secondly there was very few people there, which was good because we didn't have to wait along time to play with anything. This caused me to be able to sit down to play some Team Fortress 2 (which I don't suck at) and shortly after I started playing, the Alienware/Dell people decided to have a spontaneous tournament for some speakers, which I won. Awesome, but don't go asking me to join your clan, my opponents were TERRIBLE except for one of them.

Here's a quick dirty pic of said speakers:

Although since we went so late, almost no booths were open and I didn't get to see any speakers or anything like that. The T-shirt vendor that was open had basically crap, and the game vendor had an awesome assortment of goodies, but it was pretty expensive so I walked away empty handed from such a glorious spread (which is rare). Also the fact that there was no LANning setup when I was there (aside from the 4-player deathmatch for Quake 4) even though they had like 100 computers hooked up got me pretty upset. Everything was single player demos or running with computer bots, and yet the machines all had ethernet hooked up to them...I probably just missed out...As for Sunday I refused to go on due to Jack Thompson's presence/discussion, I don't see any reason in inflating his ego with having him think I may care what he says.

Hopefully next year I can get something to go with my speakers, or some awesome swag.

I attended this show last year when they had it in the Phily suburbs, and I had a great time, mostly because of the BYOC LAN party that ran for about 72 hours straight. I was going to go again this year, but they held it in downtown Philly, where it would have cost more to park than it would to get in, and they didn't have the BYOC party. I'm hoping that they took a bath on the show because of the city location and they'll bring it back out to the 'burbs next year.
