Just one more bit of scare tactic: I can confirm that people have been invited and then uninvited to paid job interviews based on their personal blogs/social networking pages. Stuff like your profile pic counts, because it's a first impression. I a…

Yes that is a nice idea but have you ever thought of going up to the biggest guy on the subway and telling him your thoughts on this. I wonder what he might do, or would you even do it. harie wow gold

Okay, I feel really small at the moment but nonetheless I shall try to improve by, well writing. Can't see any other solution then to write like a bunny on speed but try not to die in the process. I found it quite funny how many people replied to th…

Andrew is fundamentally right, especially in today's market where an editor has his/her choice of writers. Unless you are one of those exceptional talents that has such a profound voice that can rise above a poor command of the language you are wri…

Haha It's all in good fun. That's what I was talking about, though. When you say something like that, you're opening yourself up to having your work scrutinized down to the slightest detail. In a regular crowd this wouldn't be too bad, but this is…

Ah yes. Thank you (how didn't I see that?)

I don't see a typo anywhere in my last response, but still, thanks for the heads up. I apologise if I seem to have bragged there, it wasn't intentional, I guess I didn't read through my comment well enough.

Keep in mind, though that I think everyone here can agree that even though employers will be OK with a few errors here and there in a submission, your pitch letters, and writing samples should have absolutely zero. I mean not even one. Most people…

This is true, but none of those professional publications are going to hire a writer who doesn't have an extremely good grasp on grammar and writing. It's true, copy editors can turn lead into gold, but trust me, even if you get the job, copy edito…

Haha, that one's got a typo too. That's a lesson that every writer needs to learn. Never (and I mean EVER) brag about having clean, typo-free writing when you're talking to a group of other writers. Practice and memorize this simple phrase, "writin…

Well that's reassuring. I am still looking for my writing style, I guess it just needs time to evolve to something specific.Of course I shall try to keep my mistakes to a bare minimum or hopefully none. Thank you all for the friendly advice. :-)

Yeah, I only pointed out the typos for that specific reason.

Good writing is not about being flawless, but editors _love_ clean copy. Make their jobs easy and you will not regret it.

Three to five years sounds about right unless you get into an internship and build from there. I think it was two years between my first volunteer review to my first paid one, but it was just a lark for a while before I decided to make a go of it as…

Help with a first timer...

I am pretty new to the whole journalism scene but find it quite fun to work with and also pretty rewarding. I don't mean in an economic since I never got paid for my writing but in a pure sense of accomplishment. So with the whole web in front of me I'll take a step toward writing and create my blog here. Now don't be mad if some reviews are old and similar. I am new to the scene you know.

Anyway I would like to ask your oppinion on my blog that recently opened with 1 game review and 1 quick lo… Continue
