The single best piece of advice anybody ever gave me was at my community college newspaper:
"Don't ever sell yourself short. It doesn't matter how big or small your outlet is, if you work for it, you'll get the story, and editors will recognize y...
Hi Troy,
I'd just to mention that with most of you points I totally agree with, and are things myself and Simon will be looking to address on the new site. While we've been striving for a more professional outlook on CGN there's only so much we c...
"Obviously as a novice I am heavily reliant on news snippets and the web as my sources as I don't have the direct access or contacts a more seasoned pro may enjoy."
Yep, this is what makes previews so tough for small websites. How do you distingu...
Thanks very much for the input, I have taken on board your points Troy and think they will be really helpful in future. I am disappointed with the spelling mistakes, schoolboy error really.

Thanks for speaking up, Simon. I'm all for personalization and opinionated writing - too many sites are bland and generic, and Phil's joy for the material shines through.

I now work on an IT Helpdesk by day and write regular gaming articles for a community website CGN under my pseudonym ubeep. I love writing so much that I and am hopeful to expand on my experience to the point that some day I may receive a small fee for my efforts.
