Whew, I haven't stopped by here in AGES. How's everyone been?

Bitmob is a wonderful idea if it stays true to its word. Read the article. Couldn't agree more. The internet is awash with awful non-journalism, something I've just blogged about quite angrily myself. Anyway - have poked somone "in the biz" in th...

Well, I would handle it with care. The link you provided seemed like a simple mistake. I actually recently met with an agency that does a lot of social media promotions. Their number one recommendation to those seeking a job: don't block out your...

Oh sweet! Unfortunately TGR did some reformatting a bit back and as a result the column I was going to use that for was closed down. I appreciate you letting me know though!

Oh and Mike, just got around to adding some points to my Live account and bought Braid. After the first few levels I was like 'Oh wow'. Unlocked all of them now but not nearly finished... some of those puzzles are really hard, but really clever and the game is just really nice, and kinda sad. It's definitely an experience you'll want to have.

Might be a good arcade purchase to consider :)

It can be like that. I hate skipping big-releases because I feel I'm really missing out on something. The games industry is so... time based. I sometimes think that if I skipped a generation I could save thousands of dollars and play the same (probably improved) systems, same games. But then... it wouldn't really be the same. As long as I'm aware of the new stuff coming out, the old stuff won't seem quite as good. Nostalgia plays a big part in making old games great, being in the moment.

As for CoD... yeah, it's one of those games that I really connected with. You only need to look around and see how many of its features are now common in shooters to see how huge it really was. Shooting through surfaces etc. The story-telling is exceptional (my brother-in-law is good friends with the guy who wrote the story and dialogue, and is currently doing it for Modern Warfare 2... I desperately wanna get my hands on him!), the multiplayer really is perfect. I don't know what Infinity Ward did but they did it brilliantly, and they did it in a completely fresh and relevant setting.

I'm sure you've got your own agenda, but if you ever needed or wanted a game I could brainstorm up the best of the generation. Or most influential, controversial, whatever. To catch up with!

I hear you. It was the opposite for me when I got my 360, I'd barely played one, I was super excited to get Crackdown and some other game, and then I got them and played through and they were fun but that was that. With my PS3 I was basically the same as you're feeling now. I was getting home from a 3 month trip around the world, barely played a videogame, but I wasn't that pumped to either. MGS4 was good and in parts great and then again... bleh. Now it's just another money sink :P

I was definitely most excited for the Wii. I was the ultimate Zelda fanboy (love it lots still) and I'd been in Los Angeles just after it had came out there, and people were playing it in stores but the lines were huge etc. By the time I got home it was sitting in my shed in it's box and I plugged it in straight away and played until the wee hours. That was all pretty magical and new for me.

Still, I'm sure you'll love your 360. If you don't get into it with those two games immediately then definitely give (oh my god I'm going to say it again) CoD4 a shot. I would sleep with that game if I could. I feel lonely when it's not around.

Just listened to the wiire podcast. Good stuff. I've done my fair share of podcasting, and none of it has gone as smoothly lol.

By the way, I think you're right about this place being overrun. I'm all for helping the next generation of youngsters, but a lot of people are just taking and refusing to give anything back to the community.

I think we've been on the same side of the VGJN debating battle lines on more than a few occasions. Send me an email or something if you ever want to chat about the industry or gossip about employers, editors and colleagues etc : P We're both Senior Journalism students practicing video games journalism, I can't imagine we'd have any shortage of things to talk about.

One positive about not owning a 360 and PS3 on top of your Wii is that you no doubt find yourself doing that thing I have so much trouble with. That thing, you know?

What is it?

Saving money?
Yeah, that.

Big ole' plug for my new editorial

Here's a little feature I wrote up recently, detailing ten awesome ideas I want to see turned into games that use MotionPlus controls for the Wii.

Some are offbeat, but most I genuinely think could make great game experiences.

The Wiire is seeking writers (currently unpaid)

I'm pasting this from the discussion I created: http://videogamesjournos.ning.com/forum/topics/the-wiire-is-seeking-writers

The Wiire, the web's first and one of the current leading independent Nintendo Wii resources, is actively seeking unpaid writers to add to the staff.

With a modest dedicated reader base, large active forum, and one of the industry's longest-running podcasts… Continue

Shameless (hair) plugs

I just want to take a moment to cough up a few links, and fish for some shameless clicks from my gamejourno brothers and sisters.

Listen to the Wiire's latest podcast, episode 126 (it's a landmark!). Why? Because in it, I could have caused the beginning of the world's implosion by explaining why we can't complain/expect the Wii to be HD capable (a big pet peeve of mine to hear from those justifying their "non-game"), and then drop the f-bomb when talking about plasma whips.… Continue

Wiire Podcast 123 (shameless plug)

You know the gist. Here's the latest podcast, it's just Ian and I, locked in an epic battle, ending quickly when we call a truce at the beginning. Listen if you're bored, or if you're dying to add a podcast to your mp3 player.

It's a good one, I think. Big shout-out to Jalopez, he made my day.
