I'm quite surprised that VGF is still around. They hosted my old fan site, Square Source (FFVIII Source, prior to 2000) from 1999 to about 2003-4, but service issues meant havoc on the forums and I could never get a response from Shane, so I packed it up and went elsewhere before finally shutting down in late '04.

Things really deteriorated at VGF over the years from its highpoint in 2000 or so, when it was hosting a dozen or more affiliates and actually paying the webmasters.
