Hey Kevin, I think your recent thread about the Game Critics and Kevin Pereira stuff was really thoughtful, and I totally get where you're comin' from.

Why Pereira couldn't make his thoughts public with his show is beyond me -- well, no. I mean, the dude has a right to say and do what he wants, but the unnecessary assault on GameSpot's (and yours) scoring of the game to recent releases was fully out of line. Of all people, you'd think he would know about reviews being written by different writers, and more so than anything else, *read the review*. Blatantly admitting to just reading the number, not the review, then video blogging about it is something that would get made fun of by his show.

Irony. I don't mean to be disparaging to Kevin P by any means, but I did want to chime in and high five you over your comments.

Don't worry too much about the Kevin Pereira's or the Daniel Weissenberger's (the gamecritic's guy). I know it's difficult, trust me I used to review games at a film website so everyone who reads you automatically assumed I had never played a game in my life and thus had zero credibility. For my part, it was always hurtful to me because I felt like I'm a bad writer for not being able to outline my case well enough. But what I realized after years of doing this is that the loudest people generally never make it past the big number at the top.

Regarding the Pereira "criticism" in particular you shouldn't sweat it too much, because he obviously didn't read the review. Every quote he pulled from the review was in big bold print at the top of the page, and even then he agreed with most of the things you said about the game.

Pereira doesn't work in print and therefore must not understand how frustrating it is to have people lambaste you with hate before they even let you explain where you're coming from.

There may be a few loud people who disagree with you, but the fact is you're a good reviewer with a good reputation. And if it's worth anything, real games journalists who strive to conduct themselves with class never put any stock in what these angry people have to say.

Good Morning Kevin

wondering if you cold help a fellow journalist out. I have been trying to contact someone at CNET who can tell me more licensing Gamespot content. In a nutshell what I'd like to do is create a South African version of Gamespot. Kind of like you guys already do with UK, Korea, Netherlands etc.

I have sent emails to few people at both Gamespot and CNET and haven't received any responses. Any idea who i should be talking to exactly.

Appreciate any help you can give me.

Zaid
