So I've ponied my way up from freelancer to paying gig (Yay?) but it seems writing for a blog is vastly different from writing for print (No shit Sherlock)
I was wondering, how do people find their voice in the niche of the blog they've carved? I...
Things are straightforward in Singapore. If you don't earn X amt in a year, you don't have to file for taxes (i,e. you do it "invisibly") and since I don't earn enough to hit that amount (not by a looonnnngggg shot) no worries for me.
I'm guessin...
Like everyone else has said, research, research and research some more.
Want to get into anime? You could dive right in by gorging yourself on the current season of anime and going back through the seasons, or go for "greatest hits" (Things like ...
What kind of MMO is good for me? --> Lets you segue into various types. I think moving beyond "WoW is for the simplistic, EVE is for the hardcore" would be worthwhile. There's tons and tons of MMO's out there, which one is "right" for me? I found ...
Wait, what? I RP'ed in WAR when I was gaming there. Really fun when you're staring down a stronghold siege with 100+ players who are getting into it. :)
Yeah I see what you mean with that. I use Gmail so spam isn't a problem for me *Thank the Gods* but I can see where that'd be a problem for others.
That would be a great idea I think. I'm with you :)
Hi to you reading this! My name's Neubronner Eugene and I'm a freelance writer from Singapore. I'm 24, and studying journalism full time in between writing.
I enjoy the beat and have been on it for almost 7 years now. I enjoy most genres except sports and realistic TBS games (E.g. Europa Universalis)
The website ya see below is one of the magazines' I write for, Playworks, a Singaporean mag. I also freelance for the weekly tech newspaper, Digital Life, that appears as a supplement in the main paper The Straits Times here.
My preferred style of writing tends to add a more personal touch to the review (Such as adding "you" instead of "the player") although writing for a newspaper has also allowed me the chance to learn to write tight, <500 word articles with a "harder" news angle.
I've also covered features, interviews and event articles while insisting to my lecturers that it's all in the name of research.
Shoot me a message for any work or add me as a friend. I'd love to get to know more journo's in the field! Singapore's too tiny to know many. *grins*
Well I'm glad I could impress. Generally people only use me for my body, but it's nice to see someone values my mind and my love for gaming periphery as well.
