While free advice may exist on the Internet, a book is always handy and much easier to read. I know I don't like to stay on any one particular web article for too long, and even looking at a computer monitor has its issues for extended periods of ...

It's very great to be reading information like this. I'm along the lines of Shaquil, only in reverse. I love playing games, and when people say "think of a feature" the first thing that comes to mind are all the observations I made while playing g...

I've actually been giving this some thought myself lately, in particular after a conversation with Bill "Game Doctor" Kunkel (he's a pretty cool guy). I'm actually reaching the feeling that there is a major difference between a games journalist an...

I don't feel like digging up the link, but I think GamerZines had a comment from a developer that merchandising is vastly under-used in the games industry. I'd have to agree, and I think companies need to be looking at more than just microtransact...

So when they say "as a courtesy" do they actually mean "you can, but we'd be sad" or "we'll tear your proverbial nuts of, dip them in chum and toss them into a pool of starved sharks if you do"?

You're always missing key concepts to these arguments. I didn't use MySpace, and almost all of my friends now on Facebook had avoided it as well. We didn't use it because it was ugly and, overall, a terrible interface. Only kids that wanna bling ...

The competition to Apple and Craigslist was absolutely nothing like it was for gaming related websites today. If a group of College drop-outs wanted to try and start a computer company out of their parents' garage today to run against Apple, Dell,...

I have to agree with this. It also makes one wonder just how long the funding will be lasting, in addition to where it is coming from.

1) What sort of writers in particular are you looking for? Reviewers? Editorial? Feature writers? 2) Roughly what sort of pay are you talking?

Wow, that site got more than ugly. That's...that needs a web designer reeeeaaaally badly. On topic, I can't really say. Every time I look back at my reviews I feel like it's not a good sampling of my current work. I tend to have pride in my edito...

My Job
Online, Podcast
About Me:
Recent graduate from College dreaming to be a games journalist. Probably going to get a job doing web design until I can somehow become a games writer.

In addition to playing video games and then discussing them, I try and keep my online comic updated, try and draw interesting pictures, and keep up with all things geeky. I love to be social, but now that College has ended I'm mostly stuck at home.

Which gives me time to work on my website and spam as many websites as possible to try and get a job.

In addition to writing for my own site, I'm also writing for GamersDailyNews.com.

Recent Writings and Writings in Development

So I've got an article I wrote a week ago that I feel is actually quite strong. Entitled "Press X to eat toast", it not only discusses the annoyances of Quick Time Events but the sheer absurdity of them as an allegedly "fun" game mechanic. While it is a topic that has been tread frequently, I feel that what I had to say was worth it.

You can check it out here.

I'm also pond… Continue

Clash of the Game Stores pt.1

So with my stint at Examiner.com, I figured I may as well try and do real journalistic-type work. I wanted to see what sorts of arcades and locations exist around New Jersey, though unfortunately most of them are far from me. Still, my first actual going-out-and-interacting-with-people article is up, with part two coming tomorrow. Unfortunately I was in a bit of a rush to get this out, so I didn't do multiple drafts or any rewriting, which I'm sure will reflect in the quality of the writing. How… Continue

Dyack's Dilemma

As usual, opinions and critiques are appreciated.

A few weeks ago, at Develop Conference, Denis Dyack spoke about the need and inevitability of a single platform for games. For those not familiar, Denis Dyack is the head of Canadian based Silicon Knights, creators of Eternal Darkness and Too Human. The general idea of his speech is that there are so many games being releas… Continue

The Art of Atmosphere

There are plenty of games of the previous generation that I miss playing. Maximo, for example, was the first Playstation 2 game I really fell in love with. Then there was Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath, a most creative game that never truly felt like either first-person shooter or platformer, despite being a fusion of the two genres.

The two titles that I miss most, however, are Planetside and Halo.

Yeah, it sounds rather silly. Planetside is a game whose engine was, overall, pretty poor and whose… Continue

Where's the love?

From my Examiner.com page. Only had time to do one draft, but I tried to make the writing interesting. Feel free to leave feedback.

Unconditional love is an incredibly powerful emotion. It means the willingness to do anything for another without reward or benefit, even if it means the ultimate sacrifice of giving your own life. Most people will likely never feel the true depth of this fe… Continue

Hey Chris,

I'm the editor over at MultiPlayerGames.com, and the site is beginning a rebuilding phase. I was wondering if you were interested in writing for us? We're looking for a gamer of any experience, and although we have a MMO writer, we have no one to cover PC games. However, you can write about anything related to games with multi-player aspects.

We're looking for somewhere in the vicinity of 30 posts per month. The position is paid, and while you won't become rich, you can make a little extra cash each month.

Let me know if you're interested, and if so, we're ready for you to start ASAP.
