Australian Game Journos

The first of its kind on VJN! For all of us who eagerly await games for much longer than anyone else in the world. Of course, they're even sweeter when they finally get here. That's my argument anyway.

Location: Australia and its many states. Usually a solid. LAME.

Escapist?! That's a tough little cookie to crack successfully... Sounds good! Ive just landed a spot as lead PC writer for Koku Gamer, like literally JUST LANDED it, my first article for them is going live within the next day or so. I also do freelancing on the side, not just videogames though, I write a column every now & then for the local paper & fill in for various friends around the place when they're down some material.

At the moment I help my friend out at vooks.net which is a pretty cushy job, and I do a fair bit of freelance stuff on the side. Hoping to get my first thing in the escapist soon.

Used to do a bunch of magazines and other websites but school and now uni have taken over and most of the websites have closed over the years.
What about you mate?

Definitely, resumes help for sure but so many times I've gotten through with just a bit of work that's on an actual site. I guess you get mad cred for it or something.
Off to uni!

Yep, just a personal blog (me and a friend write there). I've only been writing for a couple of months, trying to work on my technique. Figured I'd do this for a while, get some experience then try to get some work with a 'real' site. It'd be easier doing that once I've got a few articles I can show as proof of my ability I would imagine.

At the moment I'm just volunteering at www.vooks.net. Pretty good reputation there, only as much work as I want and plenty of good opportunities to preview games and make a few contacts.
I used to write for Nickelodeon, Gamerwithin, and FUEL and Hot 4s magazines but all of those jobs have since gone dead and transitioning into uni has slowed me down a bit. I'm pretty keen to get back into it in a bigger way though. Just have to keep looking around.

What about you? Is rsi your personal blog or..?

Whereabouts do you write? Got a regular gig or freelancing/volunteering?
