Videogames Journos Network

Because the world badly needs another social network

Just out of curiosity, has anyone had any luck working with these guys?

I'm a little perplexed to be honest. I had the cover story for a nationally distributed magazine (over 1 million readers) open for Modern Warfare 2, and their PR people didn't even e-mail me back. I've gotten them to send over media assets before, but it's unusual to hear nothing back from them, particularly about such a big project.

Instead I pitched it to the PR team who was working on DJ Hero and they jumped all over it.

Anyone have any success in establishing a line of contact with them?

No luck using the Games Press.com PR listing?

Did you try calling them?

I find it odd that they wouldn't get back to you for such a prominent story (congrats on that by the way) but it does help sometimes to call. It's harder to ignore someone talking on the phone then it is to delete an email.

Yeah, I've left them a number of voice mails. No one at Activision ever picks up their phone. Ever.

Thanks for the congrats! It's a big opportunity for me and I was really hoping to use MW2 to headline it. DJ Hero isn't a bad alternative though; it's just confusing.

It really is. What mag is it going to be in so I can watch out for it?

It's a magazine called College News.

Free subscription or you can grab a copy of it if you go to a fairly large university.

I managed to contact Neil Wood at Step-3. He's the PR lead for Modern Warfare 2, and was able to receive a review copy for my site.

Interesting. I thought Activision did all their PR in-house. I'll have to take a look into that.

Thanks!
