Are you passionate about games? Love writing about them? Opposable Thumbs, the gaming journal at Ars Technica, is looking for a freelance writer with expertise in gaming to join our team, as a news hound (at least initially).
We are looking for someone with prior writing experience, especially in game writing. The ideal candidate is available 5 days a week (days are up to you) and can devote 3+ hours to writing each day. We're very flexible, except with one thing: you've got to be a self-starter, capable of both working in a team and also working alone when everyone is busy. Experience with basic HTML is strongly preferred. You should probably already live and breathe RSS, too.
Ars Technica pays a competitive per-post rate; if you have pay expectations please don't be shy in sharing them! Send your writing history as well as a sample 300 word post to BKuchera[At]arstechnica.com.
While our current needs are freelance, this position could grow into a full time writing gig, and there is also the possibility of covering technology beyond the gaming world. Ars Technica has a passionate, informed, and large audience; we need professional and insightful writers to expand our gaming coverage.
